PRAGUE, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Most Czech politicians, including Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, on Thursday welcomed the outcome of Wednesday's parliamentary election in the Netherlands.
They call the victory of Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the defeat of his opponent Geert Wilders good news for Europe.
In a press release, Sobotka said the victory of Rutte as the representative of a mainstream democratic political party is good news and a hopeful sign for Europe.
Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Andrej Babis and Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek congratulated Rutte on his victory. Zaoralek said on social media that the Netherlands has set out well on the series of elections in 2017 on behalf of all of Europe.
Czech Defence Minister Martin Stropnicky also expressed satisfaction with the election result, describing it as "good news for the Netherlands and Europe."
