RAMALLAH, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki said Wednesday that the second peace conference in Paris will be held before the end of 2017.
Malki said in a statement to the official Palestinian radio station (Voice of Palestine) that the states that took part in the first Paris conference will get back together during this year to deliberate on that has been achieved since the first conference.
He expressed hope that the French government elected next May would appreciate this obligation and follow up on it, stressing that the Palestinians are following up on the matter.
The foreign minister said that the Palestinian side is amplifying the outcomes of the Paris peace conference held last January, highlighting the French obligation toward it.
Palestinian Ambassador in Franc Salman Al-Herfi mentioned earlier that the French government will be initiating invitations just like it did the first time, in order to realize the resolutions about the Palestinian cause and statehood.
Al-Herfi called on world powers, including France, to recognize the Palestinian statehood, especially after the unanimous international condemnation of settlements and the international conviction that it is a hinder in the path of the two state solution.
On Jan. 15, a peace conference on the Middle East conflict was held in Paris for several hours, where leaders of 70 countries and representatives of five international agencies and organizations attended.
The conference called for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that began in 1967 and stressed on the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state and manifest its sovereignty to live in peace and security side-by-side with the state of Israel.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas visited France last month and met with French President Francois Hollande and top officials.
