NAY PYI TAW, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw met with Emeritus Senior Minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong here Wednesday and had talks on cooperation in boosting bilateral trade and investment, according to the President's Office.
Goh Chok Tong arrived on Tuesday on a three-day visit to Nay Pyi Taw.
Their talks also covered development of economy through tourism and through development of small and medium enterprises, electricity consumption, the key role of private sector, anti-corruption and impact by tax evasion.
The pair witnessed the signing of extending the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Singapore-Myanmar Vocational Training Institute which was opened during Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's visit in June last year.
The institute is located in Yangon and trains Myanmar students through courses designated by Singapore's Institute of Technical Education's Education Services.
Singapore stood as Myanmar's second largest investor after China with 16.649 billion U.S. dollars as of February this year since late 1988.
Myanmar-Singapore bilateral relations dated back to 1966 when the two countries established diplomatic ties.
