HANOI, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked ministries, sectors and people's committees of centrally-run localities to stop receiving cars from companies as gifts.

The move aims at avoiding negative occurrence in the form of gifts and presents from enterprises as well as avoiding loss of state property in the form of tax exemption for imported vehicles, reported local Nhan Dan (People) newspaper on Tuesday.

In a related move, Vietnam's Ministry of Finance on Tuesday released a statement, saying that from Jan. 1, 2016 to March 6, 2017, a total of 761 state-owned cars have been liquidated, collecting some 35.15 billion Vietnamese dong (1.56 million U.S. dollars) to the state budget.
