Iran's film "Wishbone" wins award at U.S. film festival

TEHRAN, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Iranian film "Wishbone" by director Ali Atshani won the best feature film and best director of the year awards at the WIND International Film Festival in Hollywood, reported Tehran Times daily on Monday.

WIND festival's gold trophy was presented to Atshani by Elham Madani, festival founder and director, on Saturday.

Based on a true story, the film is about a married football coach who meets his ex-girlfriend after a lengthy hiatus. The girl, who had been one of his fans, enters his life once again.

The cinematic work compares and contrasts the ups and downs, experienced by a fired coach who met a girl he had a relationship with several years prior.

The critically acclaimed Iranian film has already taken home numerous awards including the Best Cinematic Film at the 3rd edition of London Independent Filmmakers Association Festival.

In its second international experience, it was selected as the best film by the jury members of the festival, reported ISNA.

The film also participated in the Perspective section of the 35th edition of the Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

The cast includes famous Iranian actor, Hossein Yari, and actress, Mitra Hajjar.

The film will be shown in Iranian movie theaters soon, according to the report.
