CAPE TOWN, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The Robertson Wine Valley, about 130 kilometers east of Cape Towon, is famous for the Hands-on Harvest Festival. From March 10 to 12 this year, the 9th Hands-on Harvest Festival is taking place in the valley.

This down-to-earth Autumn celebration has become more and more popular among local and international visitors. With a collection of over 20 wineries, estates and other establishments, Robertson spoils visitors for choice with a wide variety of tailor-made activities, food and wine.

Visitors tour some of the wine farms, hand pick their own grapes, stomp them and even make their own blends to take home. For more adventurous there is a series of activities such as skydiving, 4x4 routes, rock climbing, hiking mountain biking and more.

Most of the activities take place in the Excelsior Wine Estate, established in 1859, which is a fifth generation farm that exports wine to over 20 countries. Due to the climate in Robertson, Excelsior uses chemicals sparingly and when their grapes are ready they are handpicked which allows greater quality control. Whether visitors are looking for great wine tasting, a guest house with beautiful view or even a deli restaurant, Excelsior offers all and more.
