VIENNA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The UN nuclear agency board of governors on Wednesday backed the current chief Yukiya Amano for his third term as the director general of the agency.
In the board meeting in Vienna, no country opposed the endorsement of Amano, the 69-year old Japanese veteran diplomat who has since 2009 served as the chief for International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA).
IAEA plays a key role in world nuclear issue, including nuclear safeguard, security, safety and technical cooperation.
