Italy repatriates 37 Nigerians accused of illegal immigration

ABUJA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Italy has repatriated 37 Nigerians over alleged immigration-related offenses, the Nigeria police force said on Wednesday.

The deported Nigerians arrived the southwestern state of Lagos late Tuesday, barely two weeks after the Italian authorities repatriated 33 other Nigerians for committing the same offense, said Joseph Alabi, a spokesman for the local police.

The all-male deportees were received by Nigerian Immigration Service, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the police.

The deportees were profiled by local immigration authorities which also arranged for their transportation to their respective states of origin or residents.
