HO CHI MINH CITY, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City wants firms to build wave-inclusive artificial beaches in its rural district of Can Gio, home to one of the world's biosphere reserves.
The district's favorable conditions for tourism development include a 27 km coastline and diversified ecosystems, especially the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, which hosts the highest diversity of mangrove plant species, mangrove-dwelling invertebrates and mangrove-associated fish and shellfish species, and is regarded as the "green lungs" of Ho Chi Minh City, the municipal authorities said Wednesday.
To facilitate Can Gio's sea tourism, the city plans to build more roads and bridges to slash time needed to travel from its downtown to the district to 15 minutes from the current two hours. It also plans to launch sea tours between Can Gio and the neighboring coastal city of Vung Tau by yachts or ships.
