DAR ES SALAAM, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's headline inflation rate rose by one percent month-on-month for February, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Wednesday.
The figure marked an acceleration compared to the 0.8-percent increase registered in January.
"The overall index has increased to 106.97 in February 2017 from 105.92 recorded in January 2017," said a statement by the NBS issued in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam.
The NBS attributed the increase of the overall index to price increase of mainly food items.
