LONDON, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese leadership's support for globalization sends signals that China is open for global businesses, said Britain's Lord Mayor of London Andrew Parmley in a recent interview with Xinhua.

Parmley made the remarks after he finished the first official visit to China as the leader of the City's business delegation last month, when they visited four Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Hong Kong, in a bid to discuss issues like the financial cooperation, green finance, financial technology and the internationalization of China's currency.

Parmley noted that "in the strange political climate of increasing protectionism, I think China is seizing the moment, so my expectation is China can be very successful in the world stage as it is going to grow."

"Given China's economic power and ongoing commitment to opening its markets, becoming more integrate with the globe financial system, it's natural that China should see to play a constructive role in global economic governance," he added.

The mayor said the promotion of the RMB internationalization is very conducive for both China and Britain. "It's not because of the Brexit, it seems because we work together."

He added data showed that in the international financial market, London has increasingly become the global center of the RMB trading.

Speaking of the communication between the stock markets of London and Shanghai, Parmley said that both sides are eager to promote their cooperation.

Even though the time zone is a question, "it is not an insurmountable problem," he said, adding the two sides are conducting a feasibility study.

Parmley was also optimistic about the development prospect of green finance and relative technologies in China, saying he believes the Asian country will become one of the world leaders in this regard.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the ambassadorial-level relations between China and Britain. Parmley said the long-standing friendship of Britain and China will have a bright future.

He praised China's economic development achievements, which he said is a good example for the rest of the world.

"I think with no secret to say that China's growth and stability as an economic powerhouse is good for the rest of the world altogether," he noted.
