TEHRAN, March 7 (Xinhua) -- France is ready to help Iran modernize its rail industry, visiting French Finance Minister Michel Sapin was quoted as saying by semi-official Fars news agency on Tuesday.
"We are ready to contribute to modernize Iran's rail industry," Sapin said after his meeting with Iranian Road and Urban Development Minister Abbas Akhoundi in capital Tehran on Tuesday.
Tehran-Paris ties were not limited to trading goods, "Rather Iran was seeking to form consolidated relations with France in all fields," Akhoundi said.
He invited France to provide Iran with detailed proposals for financing the project to renew the Iranian railway fleet.
On Monday, Fars reported that Iran and Russia have agreed to jointly manufacture 6,000 railroad cars for Iran's domestic consumption in three years.
