Asian, Australian experts to discuss infrastructure building at Bali meeting this month

JAKARTA, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Experts in construction of road and bridge from Asia and Australia will meet in Bali island of Indonesia this month to share opinion and experience in constructing infrastructures to contribute to economic expansion, a senior official said here on Tuesday.

Over 700 experts representing construction firms from their territory would take part in the 15th road engineering association of Asia and Australia (REAAA) conference in Nusa Dua resort of the island from March 20 to 24, President of RAAA Hermanto Dardak said.

During the meeting, the participants would share their opinion and experience on how to optimize the function of infrastructure facilities that would boost prosperity and economic growth.

They are expected to share knowledge on the usage of technology for constructing the infrastructure facilities with eco-friendly outputs, and financing of the construction works, Mr. Hermanto said.

"The conference would pay attention to the experiences of several countries in constructing the facilities," he told a press conference at public work ministry.

Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono will be the keynote speaker in the conference and is scheduled to open the meeting, said Hermanto.

Asia attempts to constructs powers, transport, telecommunication, water and sanitations infrastructures to support economic expansion.

According to the Asian Development Bank, Asia-Pacific region requires 1.5 trillion U.S. dollars per year through 2030 for infrastructures.
