DAR ES SALAAM, March 6 (Xinhua)--African's wealthiest person, Aliko Dangote, said on Monday he is happy with the leadership style of Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli and pledged to continue working with him and his government.
Speaking after the president has visited his 500 million U.S. dollars cement factory in the southern Tanzania region of Mtwara, Dangote said he is satisfied with every effort taken by President Magufuli and his government to improve the investment climate in the country, the second largest economy in East Africa.
"It is a great honor and privilege to our company to have been given such an opportunity to make such a big investment in Tanzania which is worth 650 million U.S. dollars," Dangote told the president.
He added that his cement factory is ready to continue supporting government measures in addressing socio-economic challenges as part of the implementation of his company's corporate social responsibility.
Dangote told President Magufuli that currently the factory was producing between 750,000 tonnes and 770,000 tonnes of cement annually, adding that production projection for 2018 stood at 3 million tonnes.
Dangote was speaking a day after President Magufuli instructed the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Tanzania Petroleum Development Cooperation (TPDC) to allocate part of Ngaka coalmine in Mbinga district, Ruvuma region to Dangote Cement Factory to enable the factory to produce coal for cement production.
Magufuli gave the ministry and TPDC seven days to allocate the land and issue mining license to the company and repeated his previous call that Dangote should not buy natural gas through private companies apart from TPDC.
"Dangote must be granted mining license for coal and must have direct access to natural gas from TPDC," said Magufuli. Enditem
