JAKARTA, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Investigators have not found the linkage of an attempted weapon smuggling at an airport in Darfur, Sudan last month with Indonesian peacekeepers, police said Monday.

Indonesian National Police Spokesman Brig. General Rikwanto made the statement after an investigation into the case concluded that members of the Form Police Unit (FPU) 8 from Indonesia were not proven in possession of the smuggled weapons.

All of them are clean and can be returned back home, said Rikwanto at the police headquarters.

The Indonesian peacekeepers were detained on Jan. 20 at Al Fashir airport in Darfur for allegedly smuggling weapons, according to reports.

Currently, the FPU 8 members have returned to Indonesia and their position in Darfur has been replaced by FPU 9, the spokesman said.
