NEW DELHI, March 6 (Xinhua) -- India called on all Asian countries Monday for a joint action against terrorism which it described as the "most pervasive and serious threat."

"Terrorism remains the most pervasive and serious challenge to global security while threat of terror is transnational ... A collective action should come from Asia," Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar said at a security conference.

India has been a victim of a number of terror attacks, notable among them being the 2008 Mumbai massacre, that claimed the lives of thousands of its nationals in the past decades.

The 2008 Mumbai mayhem was a series of terror attacks that took place in November 2008, when 10 members of banned Pakistani militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, carried out a series of 12 coordinated shootings and bombings lasting four days across the country's financial capital.

The attacks, which drew widespread global condemnation in November 2008, left over 170 people dead and more than 300 others injured.
