TOKYO, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks declined Friday morning as Wall Street's overnight losses created a dour market mood, while some investors opted for profits and to square away positions ahead of the weekend.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 27.22 points, or 0.14 percent, from Thursday to 19,537.58.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 2.77 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,561.92.
Mining, oil and coal product, and construction-linked comprised the morning's notable decliners.
