LISBON, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Portugal's consumer confidence indicator rose between September 2016 and February 2017, reaching a maximum high, the country's National Institute of Statistics revealed on Monday.

According to official figures, the consumer confidence indicator "resumed a positive path to growth" and reached the highest rate since March 2000.

This rise was due to consumers' expectations regarding unemployment, the financial situation of their households and the improvement of the economy among other factors, the institute pointed out.

Portugal was bailed out in 2011 under a 78 billion euros (82.5 billion U.S. dollars) package by the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission. The economy last year grew 1.4 percent of GDP, with the government beating its deficit forecast.
