WINDHOEK, Feb.27 (Xinhua) -- The Namibia Premier League (NPL) held an Extra ordinary General Meeting and resolved to appoint five interim management committee members to run the affairs of the league for the next six months, according to the country's official football website.
The local football league has been inactive since the completion of the league in May last year and with the new football calendar having started in Feb. 2017, NPL is expected to find a sponsor and resume as soon as possible.
According to the statement on Sunday, the Committee is mandated to convene a Board of Governors Meeting within 30 calendar days, where a road map will be presented, charting the way forward with regard to finding a sponsor/s for the League, and the commencement of the league.
The committee also has to engage with the Namibia Football Association (NFA) on various matters including the amended Constitution of the NPL, registration of players and all other football matters that will have a bearing impact on a functioning Premier League for the country.
Furthermore the Committee has been mandated to call for an Elective Congress within a 6-month period.
In the statement, the league also called on stakeholders, the corporate world and media to help them in achieving the goals for the sake of football in the country.
