SAPPORO, Japan, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- South Korea edged China 3-2 in the women's ice hockey through shoot-off on Thursday, getting its second victory at the Asian Winter Games.
During the tough match, China led earlier as captain Yu Baiwei hit home a power strike in the first quarter. South Korea capitalized in fastbreaks to tie 1-1 by the end of the quarter.
China regained its one goal-advantage in the second quarter, but only saw South Korea level again. Then, neither team could score again until the second shoot-off session when South Korean goalkeeper delivered a power play to win the match.
"We performed well today," said Yu Tiande, China's team official. "We have to play more competitive games and train harder in the future."
In other two matches of the day, Japan overwhelmed Thailand 37-0 while Kazakhstan stunned Hong Kong, China 19-0. Enditem
