LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- A total of 11 militants were killed after aircrafts pounded Taliban hideouts in southern Helmand province in Afghanistan on Wednesday, provincial government said Thursday.
Two more militants sustained injuries in the raids in Garmsir district, the provincial government said in a statement.
According to the statement, two group commanders of the Taliban named Mullah Zaheen and Mullah Ghazi are among those killed in the air raids.
Taliban militants are yet to make comment on the situation.
They have tightened noose around Garmsir district and have been fighting to overrun Helmand provincial capital Lashkar Gah, 555 km south of national capital Kabul.
