SAPPORO, Japan, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese men have stretched their winning record to five games after beating South Korea and Qatar at the Asian Winter Games on Tuesday.
China opened the day with an 8-3 victory over South Korea and went on to defeat Qatar 14-5.
Having taken a 3-0 lead over South Korea after the fourth end, China saw their rivals come back with two points in the fifth, before responding with three points in the sixth end and one in the eighth.
China's Canadian coach Marcel Rocque encouraged players to use new moves and tactics in the Qatar game.
"We didn't use full power against Qatar, which is a beginner in the game, and we tried something we rarely used before, considering the semifinal will be tomorrow," said Rocque, also the general coach of the Chinese men's and women's teams.
Japan downed Kazakhstan 13-4 but lost to South Korea 8-4 for a record of three wins and two losses.
Kazakhstan then lost their second game, to Chinese Taipei, 13-2.
On the women's side, the Chinese edged Japan 8-5 for a 3-1 record with the only loss handed out by South Korea on Monday.
South Korea remained unbeaten with a lopsided 18-1 victory over Kazakhstan.
