Over 11,000 Syrian refugees receive medical services in Morocco

RABAT, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Some 11,464 Syrian refugees received medical services at the Moroccan field hospital in Zaatari camp, northeast of Jordan in January, local media reported on Monday.

Citing statistics provided by the Moroccan hospital, Alyaoum24.com news site said that children were on the top of those who received health services at the hospital with 4,542 cases, followed by women (3,810) and men (3,112).

As many as 3,031 emergency cases, 1,238 pediatric cases and 2,600 general medicine cases were referred to the hospital, the same source added.

Some 8,749 prescriptions were offered by the different departments of the hospital to patients and 77 surgical operations were carried out by the hospital staff in last January, it noted.

The field hospital started providing its service in 2012 with a capacity of 60 beds and a staff of 100 medical personnel, including 32 doctors.

In 2016, some 137,978 Syrian refugees received medical services at the Moroccan field hospital.
