HONG KONG, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Two key jewellery shows will open in Hong Kong next week, forming the largest jewellery marketplace in the world.

The 4th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show will open next Tuesday and run through March 4 at the AsiaWorld-Expo.

The 34th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will open next Thursday and run through March 6 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

The twin shows, sponsored by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), has attracted a record of 4,480 exhibitors from 53 countries and regions.

Despite global economic uncertainties, the strong participation of exhibitors and buying missions at the shows indicates that the jewellery industry remains optimistic about business prospects and sees Hong Kong as an important sourcing platform for jewellery and raw materials, said Benjamin Chau, HKTDC deputy executive director.

The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show features three signature zones, including one for diamond suppliers, another for precious gemstones, and the third for pearls.

The jewellery show will gather renowned local and global jewellery brands and new designer brands.

Jewellery craftsmanship demonstrations and themed seminars will be held to help promote the latest market information and crafts and product trends.

The award presentation ceremony of the biennial International Jewellery Design Excellence Award will be held on March 2.
