TOKYO, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground on Friday morning as the yen's strength versus the U.S. dollar dented exporter-linked issues, although bargain hunting on issues rising on solid earnings capped losses.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 110.26 points, or 0.57 percent, from Thursday to 19,237.27.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.30 points, or 0.47 percent, to 1,543.77.
Notable issues that lost ground by the morning break comprised transportation equipment, insurance and real estate-linked stocks.
