BRUSSELS, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- The European Police Office (Europol) on Thursday said it had coordinated an investigation into drug trafficking that resulted in the seizure of 170 kg of cocaine at the Port of Antwerp in Belgium.
Belgian authorities conducted the operation in late January and found the cocaine inside a container transporting frozen vegetables from Peru, according to a statement issued by Europol.
The criminal group involved in drug trafficking from South America to Europe had been investigated by Spanish police.
During the investigation, Spanish authorities obtained intelligence suggesting the arrival of a cocaine container shipment to Antwerp.
Europol supported the investigation by facilitating the exchange of information between the two countries. Enditem
