ISLAMABAD, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated a new section of the government's major motorway to upgrade the country's transport system and develop the economy, reported Radio Pakistan.
The 75-km-long section starting from the southern port city of Karachi is part of a motorway linking Karachi and the northwestern city of Peshawar. The entire motorway will be completed by 2019.
"Any country in the world that has become modern started with creating better infrastructure," Sharif told a launch ceremony.
The development of modern infrastructure is imperative for the development of the country, said the prime minister. These projects will not only promote trade but also national unity among the people of all the four provinces of the country, he said.
