PHNOM PENH, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- About 287,041 foreign tourists visited Cambodia's famed Angkor archaeological park in January 2017, a 15.7-percent rise over the same period last year, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise said in a statement on Thursday.

The Southeast Asian country earned a gross revenue of 8.3 million U.S. dollars from ticket sales to the ancient site in January this year, representing an increase of 16.1 percent over the same period last year, the statement said.

The largest sources of tourists to the site are China, South Korea, and the United States.

Located in northwestern Cambodia's Siem Reap province, the Angkor archaeological park, inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1992, is the kingdom's top tourist destination.

An entrance fee to the site is 37 U.S. dollars for a one-day pass, 62 U.S. dollars for a three-day visit and 72 U.S. dollars for a week-long visit. Entry is free for Cambodians and children under 12 years old.
