BANGKOK, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's top-brass members visited an armament repair factory in the northeastern part of the country on Wednesday.
Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan led top military commanders to the Army Ordnance Department's armament repair and maintenance plant in Nakhon Ratchasima province, about 260 km northeast of Bangkok.
Accompanying the Thai defense minister on the trip to the armament repair factory were Deputy Defense Minister Udomdej Sitabutr, army chief Gen. Chalermchai Sittisart, air force chief ACM Jom Rungsawang, navy chief-of-staff Adm. Luechai Ruddit and Defense Ministry undersecretary Gen. Chaicharn Changmongkol.
Prawit confirmed that the Thai armed forces were planning to do the repair and maintenance of varied armaments and equipment.
"Instead of wasting time until spare parts for any weapon system have been delivered from a foreign country, we may fix some broken weapon systems or equipment at our own repair factory," he said.
