Indian markets close higher

MUMBAI, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Indian market closed higher Wednesday following the Union Budget after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley maintained fiscal prudence, leaving the long-term capital gains tax unchanged. Jaitley also did not tinker with the secutities transaction tax.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 28,141.64, 485.68 points or 1.8 percent up compared to its previous close at 27,655.96.
