Indonesia holds cultural exhibition to promote new tour destinations

JAKARTA, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- A unique cultural event that chronicles series of cultural festivals in regions designated as Indonesia's ten new tour destinations is being held in the Tourism Ministry Thursday to attract foreign tourists.

The four-day event, named 2017 Festsinfest (Festival of Indonesian Festivals), highlights the arts and cultural performances from the ten new tour destinations now developed by the ministry and related agencies.

Those new tour destinations are highly expected to par with Bali in attracting foreign tourists as well as generating revenues for locals involved in tourism industry and regional governments as well.

Deputy Minister Esthy Reko Astuti said the event would be featured by cultural and art performances from the new ten tour destinations.

"The cultural and art performances, entitled 10DEST.I.Nation, would give audiences the experiences to explore the soul of the nation," Esthy said in a statement on Thursday.

She added that each of the new ten destinations would present performance, themed from the region's most prominent feature.

Caldera of Kings would be the theme of Lake Toba. Meanwhile, Tanjung Kalayang in Beluitung would take a theme of Wave Under the Stone, Sun and Serendipity.

Country Below the Wind is a pick of Banten province's Tanjung Lesung for its upcoming performance. Jakarta's Old City destination would stage a performance under a theme of Queen of The East.

World's largest Buddhist temple of Borobudur was scheduled to show Pearl of Buana Samudra performance. Meanwhile performances with a theme of Wonder in Wonderland would represent Bromo Tengger Semeru volcano.

The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province's Labuan Bajo, which is popular for its Jurassic animal of Komodo dragon would stage performance with a theme of Zoo Quest of The Dragon.

West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province's Mandalika would present In Search of Desire Prince. The MOROTAI mon Amor! and Wanderlust Triangle of The Sea themes would represent the eastern provinces' destinations of Morotai Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi.

Indonesia has declared tourism sector as the nation's core business, expecting to welcome 20 million foreign visitors and earn more than 24 billion U.S. dollars from the sector by 2019.
