WUHAN, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The bodies of the 12 people who died when a landslide destroyed part of a hotel in central China's Hubei Province have been recovered.

Among the three injured, one is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit, according to Bai Zunguo, deputy head of Nanzhang County.

The Mirage Hotel was devastated at 7:30 p.m. Friday when around 3,000 cubic meters of debris slid down a slope behind the hotel. The largest falling rock weighed 150 tonnes.

A total of 15 people, including hotel workers and guests, were trapped in the restaurant on the first floor. Rescuers pulled five people from the debris, two of whom died in hospital.

Geological expert Nie Haitao said after field investigation that rainwater seeping down through rock fissures had affected stability, and caused a sudden collapse after frequent freezing and melting.

The hotel was built in 2007. Hotel owner He Dahui died in the disaster.
