BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- A 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit Solomon Islands at 12:30 p.m. Sunday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter was monitored at 6.19 degrees south latitude and 155.14 degrees east longitude, and the focus of the quake was 160 kilometers deep.
