SCO officials vow better cooperation

MOSCOW, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Officials of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members agreed on Friday to boost coordination and deepen pragmatic cooperation.

The agreement was reached during a consultation here by the SCO secretary-general, deputy foreign ministers from some members and heads of anti-terrorist organizations, including China's Assistant Foreign Minister Li Huilai.

The participants exchanged their views on the development of the organization under the new situation, agreeing that the consensus by the leaders of SCO members should be fully implemented.

They pledged to strengthen coordination of jointly maintaining regional security and stability, and to deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields to push for the healthy development of the SCO.

On the sidelines of the consultation, Li also met with Russian and Kazakh deputy foreign ministers respectively to discuss bilateral relations.

The SCO is an inter-governmental organization founded in Shanghai in 2001, including China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
