Indonesia eyes soccer victory in 2017 SEA Games

JAKARTA, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's soccer association on Friday selected a new coach for the national team, targeting a victory in the upcoming SEA Games in Malaysia in August.

Luis Milla Aspas replaced Alfred Riedl who brought Indonesia to the second position at the AFC championship last year.

Milla, who guided the Spanish U-21 soccer team to Europe championship top podium in 2011, is expected bring similar success to Indonesia's soccer team, according to an official of the association.

"It is important for me to receive this job, and I am confident that I can set up a good team," Milla said after his appointment.

The 50-year-old new coach said that he would apply Spanish-style football to the Indonesian team.

"The most important is working hard," he added.

The 19th SEA Games is scheduled to be held from Aug. 19-31 in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia..

Indonesia has finished second five times at the AFC championship.
