SYDNEY, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Sydney is set to host the 15th annual Yabun festival, meaning "music to a beat," on January 26, Australia's biggest celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
"It's a great opportunity for both locals and visitors to celebrate and learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through music, art, performance and debate," Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
The event will be hosted on the traditional land of the Gadigal people, showcasing 12 performances ranging from rock, folk, pop, hip-hop, blues, country, as well as a band from Australia's Northern Territory.
The city has provided 120,000 Australian dollars (90,000 U.S. dollars) in funding for the event and will feature over 100 stalls and activities.
"The Yabun Festival rejoices in the cultures and practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the oldest living culture in the world," the Lord Mayor said.
