MADRID, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Spain has presented a complaint to France over attacks against Spanish trucks transporting wine which took place in the southeast of France at the start of the week.

According to the Spanish press, Spain's Ambassador to France, Ramon de Miguel presented a verbal complaint to the French Foreign Ministry over the aggressions "against Spanish citizens and property in France."

De Miguel was referring to two attacks by French farmers' organization.

According to De Miguel, in one attack, around 15 to 20 members of the Committee for Action of Wine (CAV), armed with clubs, bats and axes, stopped a Spanish-owned truck close to Narbona and emptied the truck's load of 25,400 liters of wine onto the road.

In the second attack, an estimated 50 members of the Young Farmers Del Gard stop a French-owned truck on the A-9 road between Nimes and Montpellier and also pour away the 25,000 liters of Spanish wine on the truck.

The Spanish Embassy in Paris confirmed that the ambassador has asked France to "take the adequate measures to end these acts of vandalism."

The unions who carried out the attacks justified their actions by claiming the wine they poured away was "fraudulently" labelled, and was poor quality.
