LONDON, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday confirmed that Britain will be leaving the single market while insisting that it wants to remain "the best friend and neighbor" to European partner.
"We do not seek membership of the single market but the greatest possible access to it," said May in her major Brexit speech to an audience at Lancaster House, Westminster, including ambassadors from across the world.
May said she wants a "bold and ambitious" trade arrangement with the EU but insists this cannot mean continued membership of the single market.
