BISHKEK, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- In 2017, the chairmanship in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will move to Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz government said on Friday.
Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Oleg Pankratov has been approved as the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in 2017.
This decision was announced during Friday's video conference of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
"The main task of Kyrgyzstan in the framework of its presidency in the EEU bodies in 2017 will be the deepening of economic integration and the removal of barriers in mutual trade between the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union," Pankratov said during the opening of the meeting.
In 2016, all three structures of the EEU were chaired by Kazakhstan and its representatives.
The EEU came into force on Jan. 1, 2015 and comprises Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
