YEREVAN, Armenia, January 13 (Xinhua) -- In 2016, Armenia marked a 10.4 percent increase in the number of air passengers traveling through the country's airports, Armenia's Civil Aviation Department announced on Friday.
About 2.1 million people traveled through Yerevan's Zvartnots airport in 2016, which is a 12 percent increase from the same index from 2015.
Armenia's main air gate is the Zvartnots International Airport. There are a number of small airports in various Armenian towns with only Gyumri carrying out cargo and passenger flights.
Flight tickets from Zvartnots went down at the end of 2016, which was one of the main pledges made by the country's new premier, Karen Karapetyan.
