TOKYO, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares rallied Friday morning as investors tried to take advantage of the sharp fall the previous day.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 99.19 points, or 0.52 percent, from Thursday to 19,233.89.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 5.03 points, or 0.33 percent, to 1,540.44.
Gainers were led by retail, electric power and gas, and oil and coal issues.
