TOKYO, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened higher early Friday as investors tried to take advantage of the market fall in the previous day.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 98.26 points, or 0.51 percent, from Thursday to 19,232.96.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 2.64 points, or 0.17 percent, to 1,538.05.
Gainers were led by retail, rubber product and precision instrument issues.
