TOKYO, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares closed lower by break on Thursday morning as U.S. President-elect Donald Trump revealed little on his economic stimulus plan at a news conference earlier.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 171.91 points, or 0.89 percent, from Wednesday to 19,192.76.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 11.92 points, or 0.77 percent, to 1,538.48.
Decliners were led by pharmaceutical, warehousing and harbor transportation service, and retail issues.
