STOCKHOLM, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) --- A storm pummeled Sweden Wednesday causing power cuts, traffic accidents, rerouted flights and severe delays on public transport.
The Swedish weather service SMHI had issued a Class 2 weather warning for the southern Swedish regions of Skane and Blekinge. Despite precautionary measures by power companies, several thousand households were left without electricity as trees and branches fell on power lines, causing outages.
Several traffic accidents were reported, with trucks and buses skidding off slippery roads.
Three flights were rerouted from the Skavsta airport, southwest of the capital Stockholm, and instead had to land at Arlanda, the country's main international airport just north of Stockholm.
Several ferries were also cancelled on Wednesday and the Swedish Transport Administration cancelled train departures on several routes around the country. Enditem
