UAE mourns death of diplomats in Kandahar bomb attack

DUBAI, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Khalifa Bin ZayedAl-Nahyan ordered Wednesday flags at half-mast at ministries and government institutions across the country to mourn the death of five Emirati diplomats killed in bomb attack in Kandahar, Afghanistan, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

The five diplomats were carrying out "humanitarian, educational and development work" in the war-torn country, said the WAM report.

Two bombs went off in the compound of the governor of Kandahar, killing at least seven people and wounding 18 more people. Among the injured was the UAE Ambassador to Afghanistan.
