Vietnam creates 1.64 mln jobs in 2016

HANOI, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam created 1.641 million jobs in 2016, including domestic jobs and exported laborers, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs (MoLISA) Dao Hong Lan said on Tuesday.

In addition, the country provided vocational training for 1.974 million people, increasing the rate of trained labors to 53 percent of workforce last year. The unemployment rate stood at 2.3 percent in 2016, local Ha Noi Moi (New Hanoi) online newspaper quoted the MoLISA as saying.

Reports from 63 localities nationwide showed that 70 percent of enterprises planned 2017 New Year bonus for their employees with average amount of 1.253 million Vietnamese dong (56.19 U.S. dollars) each, up 6.2 percent year-on-year.

For the Lunar New Year, some 83.5 percent of the country's enterprises have planned bonuses, with average amount of one month salary at around 4.9 million Vietnamese dong (219.73 U.S. dollars), down 4 percent year-on-year, said the ministry.
