VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Russia seized 188 liters of prohibited liquid with alcohol during the New Year holiday season in an operation in Vladivostok of its Far East region, an official statement said Monday.
In the operation, 1,749 bottles of such liquid, including the infamous bath lotion Boyarishnik, were seized, the Russian Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare said on its web site.
Meanwhile, various undocumented bath and cosmetic products with 25-60 percent of alcohol were found. The sale of these products was banned.
Inspections are underway across the country after 76 people were killed from drinking Boyarishnik which was contaminated with methanol, in Irkutsk, a city 4,000 km east of the Russian capital of Moscow.
