SKOPJE, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Macedonian authorities have taken additional monitoring measures to prevent the further spread of flu that has gripped the country, local media reported Friday.
Health Ministry official Jovanka Kostovska told reporters on Friday that around 16,000 flu patients were treated in public health institutions by the end of last week while the figures has kept increasing.
Although there have been no serious flu cases in the clinic for infectious diseases or infectious departments across Macedonia, it is necessary to enhance measures, Kostovska said.
She added that the Committee for Infectious Diseases has adopted additional measures for improved monitoring of flu developments as a way to keep situation under control.
Kostovska said that all hospitals have been instructed to provide sufficient staff, medications and beds for patients. Enditem
