RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Nine-time world rally champion Sebastien Loeb climbed to second in the overall Dakar Rally standings after winning Friday's sixth stage in the Bolivian Andes.
The 42-year-old Frenchman finished the 692km Tupiza-Oruro leg in two hours 24 minutes and three seconds in his Peugeot, just 44 seconds ahead of Spaniard Nani Roma in a Toyota.
Defending champion Stephane Peterhansel of France was third in his Peugeot, one minute and 31 seconds behind Loeb.
Peterhansel led the overall standings after the fifth day, one minute and nine seconds ahead of Loeb, with fellow Peugeot driver Cyril Despres of France in third place, four minutes and 54 seconds off the pace.
Earlier, Britain's Sam Sunderland won the motorcycle stage on his KTM, beating Portugal's Paulo Goncalves on a Honda and Yamaha rider Adrien Van Beveren of France.
Sunderland led the overall standings, 12 minutes in front of Chilean Pablo Quintanilla. Enditem
