SINGAPORE, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Singapore-registered container vessel collided with a Gibraltar-registered container vessel off Pasir Gudang Port, Johor Malaysia on Tuesday, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The collision caused 300 tonnes of oil spillage in the surrounding waters as one of the bunker tanks of the Gibraltar-registered container vessel suffered from damage.

The MPA said, some oil patches were spotted and the spillage has been contained off the western side of Pulau Ubin.

The authority has activated a total of eight anti-pollution craft with dispersant spraying capabilities to clean up the spilled oil.

MPA is still investigating the cause of the accident. There have been no reports of injury and traffic in the East Johor Straits and Singapore's port operations remains unaffected, MPA added.
